‘Life On The River’

Our current project is a journey from the source of the River Ribble above Gayle Beck in the Yorkshire Dales to the estuary at Lytham on the coast of the Irish Sea.

The river will tell its story, reviewing it’s interaction with man and wildlife living along its course while exploring the surrounding topography and geology.

Working with Ribble Rivers Trust, Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and RSPB this will be a film in three parts with an extra episode covering bonus features including contributions from organisations connected with the river.

It is anticipated that the first episode will be available late April 2026 and all four parts by 31st August 2026.

The complete film will be produced as a DVD with supporting booklet available through our website, and from other sources yet to be confirmed. A streaming facility may also be available.

All profits from this project will be donated to the organisations connected to The River Ribble.

Life on the River will tell the story of the Ribble in the eyes of the river itself. From the past, the present and looking at what the future may hold.

o To provide a home

o To provide employment

o To support industry, farming etc

· The geology that is unique to this river

o The landscape the river passes through and how it changes along its course

o The rivers and streams that flow into the river

o Challenges the river has faced

o How the challenges were overcome

o The positive impact Ribble Rivers Trust, Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust and other organisations are having

· Plant life along its banks

· Birdlife

· Mammals

The information we include needs to be accurate and not speculative. The essence of the film is to be ‘an innocent walk along the river’, to build on positive messages, be non-political and not controversial in any way.

We will not be ‘banging the environmental drum’ since others are far more informed than we are to do this.

The river will be telling its story through voice over.
